I am having a love affair........
Oh how I have dreamed of being truly in love with my job. For the 20 years that I was in my previous career I was marginally happy at best. Started out ok—but then moved to secretly unhappy, then ultimately just trying to drink enough wine to dull the pain. I had been spending the last few years where my only passion was to find out what the hell I was actually passionate about.
When I finally left my job, it was a mix of thrilled and scared to death. I was pregnant with the biscuit at the time and knew that was the focus, of course, but all this opportunity was now in front of me….what to do, what to do.
I have spent the last year exploring options and come up with some wonderful prospects and goals. My work with animals (which has taken a back seat) is something I am so fulfilled by whether it is work or volunteer and more recently some children’s clothes design (which look great if I do say so myself) has been amazingly fulfilling. I also have allowed myself to be open to the possibilities of what I can do and realizing that I don’t have to do it all at once—I have all the time in the world !
My favorite job, however, has got to be Biscuit’s mom. And…..it IS a job. Anyone that ever questions it, I welcome you to take my shift. It is only a 13 hour kiddo shift ( I am very lucky to have such a heavy sleeper) but of course you have to fit the rest of your life in throughout the day and if you are up to it, the last couple hours before you go to bed. If people don’t consider a work at home/stay at home mom a “job”, then why do people pay other people to watch their kids ?---I’m just sayin’.
Anyway—before she was born, I could not have imagined that I
could love anyone as much or more than the Mr., but the moment I lay eyes on her in the morning, she is so beautiful to me my heart just aches. I still am hopelessly in love with my sweet pea—but he has some competition J.
If only everyone could live their life doing only what is helpful and what brings them joy—how the world would be different.
How lucky am I to have such an important career…..check back with me when she is 13, I may choose to retire.
